About The Official Guide to PTE Academic

   

We have two versions of the Official Guide to PTE Academic available: one for test takers and one for teachers. 

Both versions can be purchased as an eBook either through this website.

The eBook version includes:
  • Detailed and useful information on the test structure

  • Additional tips and learning strategies

  • New practice tasks and detailed walkthrough of each task type

  • Information on how PTE Academic tests are scored

  • Extra audio and video materials

Test taker digital resources include:
  • 20 support videos

  • worksheets

  • lots of helpful study tools to help you improve your skills and prepare for the test.

The Teacher version includes or an eBook, as well as Digital Resources and a Question Bank on the Pearson English Portal. Teachers can see all the resources available to test takers and also access extra tips, teaching notes and lesson planning tools.

Teacher access to the Question Bank also gives teachers the ability to create class groups, assign practice questions and check student progress.

The Teacher guide is only available for the PTE Academic test.

The Official Guide Question Bank includes 380 new and authentic test questions, across all of the task types. Test takers can practice their skills and check tips and sample answers as they study.

The Question Bank covers the four main skills: speaking, reading, listening, and writing.

Each skill area in the bank has practice tasks for each of the 23 task types in PTE Academic or PTE Core, to help you practice with content similar to what you will see in the real test.

There is no limitation on the number of attempts you can make. You can access your online materials and re-do the tasks at any point during the 24-month validity of your product.

Student access expires 24 months (two years) after the access code is activated. 

Teacher access expires 36 months (three years) after the access code is activated.

About the PTE Academic Question Bank

The PTE Academic Question Bank is a self-study product designed to help you try task types from the test with new, authentic content.


The PTE Academic Question Bank includes 340 new and authentic test questions, across all of the task types in PTE Academic. Test takers can practice their skills and check tips and sample answers as they study. 

No, this is a different question bank to the one included in the Official Guide packages.  

The 340 questions in this bank are completely different to the 380 questions in the Official Guide Question Bank.

The tasks in the bank are not currently scored. However, you can check if your answers are correct or incorrect and compare sample answers to your own responses to speaking and writing questions. 

Access to the PTE Academic Question bank expires six months after the access code is activated.

To access the PTE Question Bank/ Official Guide to PTE Academic for the first time:
  • In the order confirmation you receive by email, there will be a unique ‘Product Access Code’, a web link to access your product and instructions

  • Through the link you will be asked to create an account or sign in to a Pearson English Portal (PEP) account. You will then be taken to a page where you will need to add your Product Access Code.

  • After a couple of further clicks you will then be able to access your PTE Question Bank/ Official Guide product

To re-access the PTE Question Bank/ Official Guide from your PEP account:
  • Sign in to your PEP account with your username and password

  • Click on the PTE Question Bank/ Official Guide on your dashboard and choose what you want to do from the main menu

Accessing your account

After purchase, we will email you a voucher(s) or access code(s) for products in your package or purchase. This email will go to the email address you registered with when buying.

If you haven’t received your email, please check any junk mail folders first before contacting us (most vouchers and codes are sent immediately but it can take up to two hours).

Sometimes there are different vouchers or access codes for different products within a package, and different places to redeem them. So you may receive more than one voucher or access code for each product.

If you have purchased a The Official Guide or PTE Question Bank through our website or reseller and are having trouble accessing your materials, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Register your account or sign in (this is NOT your MyPTE test account)

  2. Select Create an adult account

  3. Enter your details and create a username and password

  4. Once you have created your user registration, you will be directed to an account dashboard. From there, select Add a product 

  5. Enter your  voucher or access code in the access code field and select Add product

  6. You will then be re-directed back to your account dashboard with your product added 

  • Access codes are six “words” long and the format should look like this: XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX 

  • You need to enter the dashes as you redeem your access code.

  • Each access code can only be used once when you register. The access code is only needed to activate your product. It is not needed to sign in.

  • If you continue to have issues, please contact Customer Support.

  • Double-check if you have correctly copied the code.

  • Please remember that each access code can be used only once.

Registration issues

  • If you know your email address, you can reset your password with the use of the Forgot your password? link on the login page

  • You will then receive an email, which will enable you to reset your password.

  • If you have more than one account linked to the email address, you will be able to choose the one to which you have forgotten the password.

    If you cannot remember your email address or continue to have issues, please get in touch via our Customer Support form.

  • Check your email account’s Spam or Junk folder.

  • Please double check your email address when registering. If you have made a mistake in your email address, you will not receive an email with a link verifying your account. Try to repeat the process of registration.

  • You may also go to Your Account and select Verify Email Address to receive an email with a new link.

Please note that your username can contain only lowercase letters, numbers, at signs (@), underscores (_), dots (.) and dashes (-).

  • Reload the browser window and try again.

  • If possible, take a screenshot (this will help us to identify the problem), and contact Customer Support. Please provide us with a detailed description of the issue.

  • You can change your native language, country of residence, time zone, the email address in the My Account section.

  • Pearson English Portal (the site where you access Question Bank of Official Guide) uses your email address to send you an account confirmation message, reset your password (in case you forgot it), and can be used to send you platform notifications.

Payment issues

First, clear your cache and cookies, and open a new browser. Please make sure you remove the website link from your favourites and access the website from your browser directly. Please also make sure you entered all the requested information for a purchase. 

If this doesn’t work then please complete our Customer Support form and include the screenshots and steps you have taken in the description.

US dollars (USD) is our standard currency currently.
