PTE Home A1

The difference between PTE Home A1 and PTE Home A2 is the English skill level they assess for UK visa and immigration purposes.

• PTE Home A1 assesses basic English ability at CEFR level A1. It is required for some family and partner visa applications.
• PTE Home A2 assesses English ability at CEFR level A2 .It is required for visa extensions or further stages of settlement routes.

Both tests evaluate speaking and listening skills and are approved by the UK Home Office as Secure English Language Tests (SELT).

Yes. You can reuse your PTE Home test result as long as it is still valid. If your Score Report has not expired, you may use it again for another visa application or immigration process where PTE Home is accepted.

In some cases, you may also reuse your results when reapplying or appealing a decision, as long as your test result is still within its two-year validity period and meets the required level.

Yes. PTE Home test results are securely and automatically shared with the UK Home Office as part of the Secure English Language Test (SELT) process.

You do not need to send your Score Report yourself when applying for a UK visa that requires a SELT.

Instead, you will receive a unique reference number (URN) with your result that you can include in your visa application.

You must bring a valid, acceptable form of identification to your PTE Home test. In most cases, this will be a valid passport. Your ID must:

• Be original (not a copy)
• Be valid and not expired
• Match the name and details used in your test booking

Yes, you can reschedule or cancel your PTE test through your myPTE account.  

Rescheduling your exam: you can reschedule for free up to 14 days before your test date. If you need to reschedule within 14 days of your test, you need to cancel your appointment and re-book your test. Fees will apply.  

Fees for canceling your exam:   

• 14 or more days before the test: cancel for free 
• Between 13 and 8 days: you will receive a 50% refund 
• Fewer than 7 days: you do not receive a refund. PTE may make exeptions in exceptional circumstances, at our discretion.
