How to book your PTE test safely

Book directly through myPTE

The quickest and easiest way to book a PTE test is to create your own myPTE account. When booking directly, use your own personal email address, along with your own payment card or an official voucher.

While you can pay using another person's card, we strongly recommend booking with your own. Only ever use a card you have genuine permission to use — if a payment is found to be fraudulent or is contested by the cardholder, your booking may be canceled and your account may be subject to review.

Book through an authorized agent (PTE Partner)

You can also book your test through an authorized agent.

Authorized agents are verified PTE Partners registered with Pearson. They can create a test taker account and book your test through the PTE Partners Portal, which is separate from your personal myPTE account.

Do not share your myPTE login details with anyone. An authorized agent does not need direct access to your personal myPTE account or login details.

Be cautious of anyone who asks to create or manage your personal myPTE account or asks you to share your login details. This is not how authorized agents and partners operate. 

How to check if an agent or offer is legitimate

An authorized agent will:

  • book your test through the PTE Partners Portal, not through your personal myPTE account
  • provide you with a test booking that you can verify in your own myPTE account
  • offer your test at the published price or at a small discount
  • never promise a guaranteed score or specific result

No one can manipulate or alter your PTE results or Score Report. There is no manual intervention in the publication of achieved scores. If an agent claims they can change your score or provide a Score Report without you taking the test, they are not acting on behalf of Pearson.

It may be a scam if someone offers to:

  • book your test at a price significantly lower than the official test fee
  • give you a discount or deal through social media
  • book your test without verifying your identity
  • sell you a pre-created myPTE account with a test booking included
  • create, manage, or access your myPTE account
  • ask for your myPTE login details
  • change your myPTE password or login details after you have paid
  • provide a Score Report without you taking the test
  • guarantee a specific score
  • change or influence your PTE results

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

What can happen if a booking is fraudulent

The following measures target fraudulent activity, not test takers who have been misled. If you think you may have been affected, contact us — telling us early is always better than waiting.

If a test booking or result is found to be linked to fraudulent activity, we may:

  • cancel your test booking
  • revoke your test results
  • restrict your test taker account, including access to your testing history
  • restrict your ability to book future tests with us

You may also lose any fees paid to the fraudulent agent. If your account has been restricted due to an outstanding payment, you will need to settle that balance with us before access can be restored.

Where a Score Report has already been shared with an institution or government body, that report may no longer be verifiable. We are required to notify verifying institutions when a score is revoked, and those institutions may take further action independently.

We cannot recover money paid to third parties operating outside official channels.

How to report suspected fraud

If you have been approached by someone offering a test in a way that doesn’t match what’s described above, or you have seen suspicious activity, you can report it to our Test Security team. You do not need to have lost money or completed a booking to report a concern.
