How PTE Academic scores compare
We regularly publish research to show how PTE Academic relates to both the CEFR and to other tests such as IELTS Academic. The latest tables are shown here.
Please note: our concordance with IELTS has been updated based on research published in July 2025 which reflects the updated PTE Academic test. The CEFR table remains unchanged. We will also publish updated relationships with other test providers (e.g. TOEFL) over the coming months.
Disclaimer: This table shows how PTE Academic and IELTS Academic test scores compare to each other. It does not show information about accepted tests or score requirements for universities or visa programs. Governments and institutions decide which tests to accept and which score requirements to set. Check the official website for your institution or visa program to learn more about accepted tests and score requirements relevant to you.
