PTE SELT tests for UK visas and citizenship

PTE Home A1: for work and family visas

A beginner-level English test that is accepted by the UK Home Office for several family and work visas.

PTE Home A1 measures your English speaking and listening skills at CEFR* Level A1. You receive either a 'pass' or 'fail' result.

* CEFR: Common European Framework of Reference for language proficiency

Use PTE Home A1 for the following visas
  • Spouse/Partner visa

  • Parent of a Dependent visa

  • Representative of an Overseas Business visa

  • Tier 2 Sportsperson visa

How will I be tested?

To take PTE Home you will need to book a test and go to a secure Pearson test center. You will use a computer with a headset to read and listen to questions and provide spoken answers from 32 questions for up to 22 minutes. There are 3 question types:
