Pearson and Kaplan have opened one of the first test centers to offer Pearson’s PTE Academic English test in Lagos, widening opportunities for Nigerian students to study overseas.
The test center, at Kaplan’s offices in Lagos, Nigeria, will provide students with a newly developed test preparation pack which includes interactive activities, test tips, test-taking strategies and more than 200 test items for practice.
Mary Agbu, Regional Director of Kaplan in Nigeria and the Teacher Trainer for delivery of Pearson’s training in Nigeria, welcomed heads of schools and education providers at the launch event, as well as special guests from Kaplan and Pearson.
Pearson has been delivering PTE Academic in its own centers in Lagos and Abuja. The company teamed up with Kaplan to open an additional center because of the dramatic increase in demand for the test. This growth in demand is due to recent changes in UK student immigration policy requiring a Secure English Language Test, as well as the widespread endorsement of PTE Academic by Higher Education institutions worldwide.
Emma Stubbs, Senior Vice President of Language Testing, Pearson, said: “PTE Academic is a popular choice among students who need to take an English language test, particularly because of the availability of our test sessions and the speed at which we return test scores – the fastest turn-around in the market.”
Sue Edwards, Project Director, Kaplan International Colleges, said: “Kaplan’s students will now have access to a study package that is interactive and will ensure students are well-prepared and stand the best chance of success in their test and application.”
