Online Marker FAQ 

What are the prerequisites for becoming a PTE General/PTE Young Learners marker?
• Native English speaker proficient
• 2 years ongoing EFL experience
• Minimum Certificate level qualification in ELT, Diploma level preferred
• Able to attend training session if required, and able to commit to availability during specified marking period
• EFL / ESOL marking experience is desirable, but not essential
• BA / BSc
• A computer, meeting the requirements over the page
What training and support would I receive?
• You will receive instructions on installing and using the e-Pen online marking system, as well as dedicated support should you encounter any problems with the software
• Prior to the marking period you will attend standardization training to give you an understanding of the marking criteria for the papers
• You will be able to contact the Chief Examiner/Team Leader for your paper should you encounter any problems during the marking period

How much marking will I be required to do?
We would seek a commitment to mark for around six to eight hours per day, for an eight-day marking period. Once you are trained, the marking is done by logging onto the e-Pen system, and so can be done at times to suit you around other commitments.
How often is the marking process carried out?
Tests are currently offered in:

• May
• June
• August
• November
• December of each year

Online marking takes place after these sessions – our main sessions are May and December
What type of work would I be marking?
You would be marking ‘essay’ type questions using your EFL experience.  Other examples include letters, email messages etc.
What specifications will my computer need to meet to run the e-Pen software?
You will need a computer meeting the following requirements:
