PTE Academic Markers
Are you free this Sep and Oct? Would you like to get paid for working from home? Do you meet the following criteria?
If so, why not join our team of PTE Academic markers, marking written and/or spoken responses online, from home during September and October 2011.
Required Qualifications
- English as a native language or CEFR C1/C2 English language proficiency if a non-native English speaker*
- Educated to degree level
- Experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages
- Home computer with broadband connection
*A certificate showing English proficiency of CEFR C1 and above needs to be provided together with the application.
Additional/preferred Qualifications
- Current TESL certification or the equivalent and recent ESL/EFL teaching experience
- A degree in humanities, education, arts or social sciences
- Familiarity with academic English
Highly qualified markers are essential to achieving and maintaining a high degree of consistency and reliability in scoring test takers’ responses. Successful applicants will attend a two-day standardisation training event in London, which concludes with qualification examinations. For further quality assurance once live marking has started, markers are continuously monitored and re-standardised at the beginning of each marking period.
Availability
If your application is successful you will need to attend a 2-day training session in London in early September concluding with a qualification exam.
Marking will take place throughout September and October.
Further marking opportunities may be available for successful markers
Marking
If you pass the qualification exam you will be expected to spend approximately 100 hours actively marking during the period.
Equipment
To use our online marking system you will need a PC with a soundcard and headphones and a broadband internet connection.
How to apply
Complete an online application form. If you are a non-native speaker of English you will need to supply an English language test certificate showing proficiency at minimum CEFR C1 level. Documents may be attached to online applications.

You must have a strong track record of sales success, ideally within the education sector, although this is not essential. Experience of selling new products/services in to a highly competitive market would be an advantage. You must also be able to show evidence of success in building and maintaining external stakeholder relationships leading to commercial opportunity.

If you are a qualified and experienced EFL/ESOL teacher, then marking for Pearson Language Tests (PLT) can be an interesting and rewarding way to add to your professional profile. We welcome applications from potential:
