Test overview

PTE Academic practice tests replicate the actual PTE Academic, which is used by many institutions to assess the English language abilities of applicants.

They can help you prepare for the actual PTE Academic test - and you can take them online, at your own convenience.

The practice tests follow the same format and timing as the actual test, so you can evaluate your performance under test conditions, determine when you are ready to take the test and identify any areas of weakness.

PTE Academic practice tests are developed by Pearson, the same organisation that develops the actual PTE Academic test
The tests consist of a set of questions. You may be required to answer by typing, by talking into a microphone attached to your computer, or by selecting one or more choices on screen.
The tests indicate your English language ability. Find out more about how they are scored.

Institutions like universities use PTE Academic to assess the English language abilities of students. You might be required to achieve a certain level before being admitted to university.

The practice tests are designed to help you prepare for the actual test, by assessing your abilities, highlighting areas for improvement and getting you used to the test conditions.

There are four tests available altogether: two online scored tests, an online unscored test and an offline test.
